Tej as an Offering: The Calculus of Human Action and Cosmic Energy
Matter is essentially a condensed and manifest form of cosmic energy, which we define as "Tej." This Tej is the inherent potency and the functional foundation of every particle in the universe. In the biological realm, the flux of this very Tej provides movement and consciousness to organic structures. Modern physical sciences suggest that mass and energy are interchangeable, implying that matter encapsulates a vast ocean of energy within its relative stability.
In the span of human life, we are endowed with a specific quantum of this energy. A fundamental question arises: Does the dissolution of this energy into the cosmos truly dictate the duration of our life? If so, why have the lives of some of history’s most luminous intellects and consciousnesses been so brief? The answer lies in the 'Rate of Flux' and the principle of Entropy. If the total quota of energy is finite, the duration of life depends on the density and intensity of its expenditure.
When consciousnesses such as Adi Shankaracharya or Swami Vivekananda offer their 'Tej' with such profound concentration and intensity, the contraction of time becomes a natural scientific consequence. To label this 'premature' would be a conceptual error; in truth, it is a 'Goal-Oriented Dissolution' of energy, where the work of centuries is consummated within a brief interval.
The living body is a system where this transformation of Tej is ceaselessly occurring. At the cellular level, what we define as metabolism is, in essence, the offering of energy molecules. When we act, our internal Tej contributes to the equilibrium and order of the external world. If our actions are purposeful, they minimize the chaotic dissipation of energy. As our internal biological receptors and transporters gradually lose their receptivity with age, this physical Tej returns toward its primordial source.
The bridge between mental tranquility and biological longevity is rooted in 'Energy Management.' Under stress, the body’s Tej moves toward wasteful dissipation, accelerating cellular decay. Conversely, in a state of profound peace, our cells utilize energy with maximum efficiency, allowing the flame of life to remain steady and luminous.
Yet, a profound mystery remains: where does this Tej go once it is liberated from the physical form? The 'Law of Conservation of Information' in modern physics suggests that no information in the universe is ever truly lost. What ancient philosophy termed 'Akasha' can be understood today as the 'Quantum Field.' When a dedicated consciousness offers its life’s Tej, that energy is inscribed as a specific frequency within this cosmic memory.
Thus, the significance of life is not measured by the number of breaths, but by the intensity of the Tej that renders even a single moment eternal. Our biological offering is the medium through which we remain a part of the Collective Evolution of the cosmos, even beyond our physical limitations. Death is not an end, but a 'Great Dissolution' of individual consciousness into this 'Imperishable Repository', where our Tej remains a source of light and inspiration for ages to come. Does this dissolution imply the conclusion of an identity, or the beginning of a universal presence? Perhaps, our offering of 'Tej' today is becoming the foundational spark for the awakening of an unknown consciousness in the future.
